Missions

Supported by FBC Elma
In response to what we find in God’s presence, we go out to meet people where they are. We seek justice for those who cannot speak for themselves.  We serve those who are over burdened, while helping those who can handle their own load to better carry it in Christ. Further, as we send and support missionaries throughout the world; we give not only our finances, but also our prayerful partnership. We see service, and support efforts in that work, as a family project, so that the world may see, and experience the love of Christ in and through the love we have for one another. We desire all our causes to be Christ-centered. Therefore, we stress faithful citizenship and Biblical activism rather than personal politics. We encourage the free expression of individual views, but not at the cost of the peace and unity of the church body.

Gideon International

The Gideons International founded in 1899 is an Association of Christian business and professional men and their wives dedicated to telling people about Jesus through sharing their personal testimony and by providing Bibles and New Testaments to people around the world in 200 countries printed in over 100 languages.  They are recognized for their work of placing Bibles in hotel rooms, hospitals, medical offices, schools, colleges, and prisons. These Bibles give people the opportunity to discover the truth in God’s Word. The association takes its name from the Biblical figure Gideon found in Judges 6.

It is an opportunity for local churches to invite children into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through “The Greatest Gift” booklet and The Greatest Journey discipleship program. (See copies on table) This project was started in 1993 by Franklin Graham of Samaritan’s Purse. Since then, more than 209 million children in over 170 countries have received boxes. The Kerr Family are serving through Pioneers, a faith-based mission who looks for ways to glorify God among the unreached. They were called to take the love of God to the people in Basque Country, Spain, connecting with the people through the music of their band – Still Pilgrims. Adjusting to life in Basque Country was not easy for the Kerr family and they decided it was best to return to the United States.  Billy is now working with Pioneers in Arkansas.  He is helping other missionaries who desire to minister in foreign countries.

Ramon and Ana Rodriguez

Nogales, Mexico

Ramon Rodriguez is the director of The Nogales Baptist Seminary (SEBANO as it is known in Spanish). The seminary was established in 1957 by Missions Door missionaries to train leaders for the ministry in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries.  The seminary has equipped hundreds of students to serve as pastors, evangelists, missionaries, teachers, and church leaders who are now ministering in Mexico, the United States, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. SEBANO offers a one-year diploma in theology for students who have not received a high school diploma. For students who have completed high school, the seminary offers both a three- and four-year degrees in theology. Because most students cannot afford the cost of ministry training, SEBANO only asks its students to pay about ten percent of the cost for their education, lodging and meal expenses.
