What is Church Venture?                                                                                                                  Acts 2:36-41
I. Intro
Big Idea: Being Baptist means finding personal faith in Jesus Christ that’s demonstrated in our commitment to Him and one another through baptism.  
II. What’s a Baptist?
A. The Baptist movement began at the beginning of the church. Acts 2:36-41
B. During the Reformation Baptists rethought what it means to know and follow Jesus.  
1. Personal saving faith in Christ.
2. Believers’ baptism.
3. Church membership.
4. Congregational government. 
5. Local church autonomy.
III. A Brief History of Baptists
A. Baptists immerged from radical puritanism in England in the early 17th century.
B. Baptists began to develop along two main streams – Particular and General.
IV. Conservative Baptist Story
A. The Conversative Baptist Association began as a means of helping likeminded churches to connect and share a common mission and resources based on fundamental doctrines of the church.
B. Our allegiance is first and foremost to Christ our King, and our calling together is to the furtherance of His kingdom.
V. CVNW Distinctives
A. The specific distinctives of Church Venture Northwest:
1. We’re Gospel-Driven 
2. Biblically Focused.
3. Making Disciples.
​4. Relationally Committed.
B. Church Venture desires to achieve these objectives through strengthening existing churches, revitalizing struggling churches, and planting new churches.
